Mona Angel, Executive Director
Sawmill Community Land Trust Executive Director
Mona Angel is an urban planner and community activist who received her Master of Community and Regional Planning (MCRP) from the University of New Mexico in 2013. Mona’s work experience has been in financial planning, community development, natural resources planning, public administration, construction projects and housing rehabilitation. She has worked in many different communities in New Mexico facilitating workshops and collaborating with municipalities, non-profits, community groups and educational institutions to engage, educate and empower communities in the areas of transportation, housing, natural resources and with grant programs. Mona has experience with federal agencies such as FEMA, USDA and HUD. In her current position, as executive Director of the Sawmill Community Land Trust she is working with housing development as a CHDO (which is a not for profit developer). As a CHDO Sawmill Community Land Trust’s (SCLT) developments are in partnership with the City of Albuquerque, Arbolera de Vida and Sawmill Village, and 97 homes located on a total of 34-acres of land. To date SCLT has developed 101 affordable ownership units and 250 affordable rental units including 46 units of senior housing.

Annette Montoya, Project Manager
Annette holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from New Mexico State University. She joined the organization in January 2014 after 18 years with the City of Albuquerque and 7 years with NMDOT. She has several years of experience in project management in both commercial and residential design and construction. Prior to joining the organization, she managed several new and remodeled facilities projects throughout the City of Albuquerque which included Transit Maintenance Facilities, Roadways, Senior Centers, Senior Kitchen, Community Centers, and Multi-Generational Facilities. These project teams earned 3 LEED projects awards, including the City’s first Gold and two LEED Silver awards.

Nancy Deskin, Office Manager
Nancy holds a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Computer Science for Business from DeVry Institute in Irving Texas. Nancy worked for Hughes Aircraft Technical Services, which became Raytheon Technical Services for 18 years as a Systems Analyst/Programmer in Southern California. In search of new experiences, Nancy became a Massage Therapist and worked at Glen Ivy Hot Springs Spa in Corona, CA for 2 ½ years. In 2006, Nancy and her husband relocated to Maricopa Arizona, where they ran a successful Handyman business for 2 years. Since moving to Albuquerque, Nancy has expanded her experiences working as a personal care attendant, a school bus driver, and as a driver for UNM Hospital’s Women’s Outreach program. Nancy is very happy to be back behind a desk here at Sawmill Community Land Trust.

Jayne Larson, Home Counselor
Jayne holds a bachelors degree from Utah State University in Family, Consumer, and Human Development with an emphasis in Family Finance. With over almost 2 years of experience Jayne joins our team as a housing and financial counselor. In the near future she will be certified  through the leading industry organization AFCPE as a financial counselor. She will also gain certification as a housing counselor through the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
