No Place Like Home: A spring fundraiser benefiting low- and moderate-income families in Bernalillo County

Sawmill Community Land Trust is embarking on our first-ever fundraiser that will unfold through several events and activities, culminating in our No Place Like Home event on April 26, 2012, from 5-8 pm, at Hotel Albuquerque.

A key component of this effort will be an Art Door Show and Auction. We're recruiting 20 local artists to create works of art on 32 x 80 inch interior slab doors, using the door surface as the canvas. The doors will be presented to the public at a Door Show & Artist Reception on Friday, April 6, 2012, from 5-7 pm, on the east patio of St. Clair Winery/Bistro. This show will coincide with Old Town’s First Friday Art Walk. The No Place Like Home main event on April 26th will include an auction of the Art Doors.

In addition, as part of the April 26th event, Sawmill CLT is sponsoring a What Home Means To Me essay and poster contest for kids in Bernalillo County school grades K-12. The deadline to have entries returned to Sawmill Community Land Trust is February 24, 2012 at 3 pm. Full details and information on the essay and poster contest here.

There is no cost to attend the main event on April 26th, and there will be different ways to show your support for the work of Sawmill Community Land Trust. You can get one of the doors or make a pledge for the coming year. We are suggesting a pledge of $150/per person (that can be made in monthly installments). However, there will be time and flexibility in deciding how to participate once you get to the event.

If you are interested in attending, please contact Vicki Dugger at vdugger@sawmillclt.org or call 764-0359 no later than April 13, 2012.
